Our Story

Britannia Services Ltd. was set up in 1982 taking over the management business from EMLA Ltd dealing mainly with the ground handling of British tourists including the organization of local tours. In 1986 we diversified our line of business when we organized our first trip to nearby Sicily by sea and after a few years we pioneered the first day return flight to Catania by Air Malta. These weekly flights went a long way towards establishing a steady clientele and encouraged us to venture further.

Britannia Tours was born and by the beginning of the nineties it became one of the leading names in the outward travel trade. Britannia Tours publishes four brochures annually; one each for Winter, Easter/Spring and Summer. The fourth is dedicated to Long Hauls and River Cruises. Further to the above, Britannia Tours took the ‘Pole Position’ in promoting Formula 1 Car Racing and has become synonymous with this well loved sports in Malta. It has also been appointed International Ticket Agents for the FIA Formula 1 in Barcelona.

Britannia Services Ltd is IATA licensed and caters also for the more independent traveller by organizing their travel worldwide whether it is for business or leisure.

Britannia Services Ltd, apart from outgoing travel caters also for the incoming tourist to Malta. The incoming department organizes ground handling arrangements for operators who regularly feature Malta in its brochures, organizes local excursions for cruise ships calling in Malta and also handles the organization of sports visits.

Britannia Today

The company is run by Noel Farrugia, Managing Director, together with a complement of reservations and administration staff and group leaders.

SG Malta Ltd are the auditors of the company whilst banking is done through APS Bank Ltd and Bank of Valletta Ltd. Britannia Services Ltd offers its services from its central offices in Valletta and from its branch offices in Paola and Mosta as well as from its authorised agent in Gozo.

Following its 35th anniversary, Britannia Services Ltd has inaugurated its first branch overseas. Britannia Tours Celje is in fact the first office away from Malta and is situated in Celje, the third largest city in Slovenia. The Slovenian office will be taking care of the traveling needs for the Slovenes, as of the neighbouring countries. The Slovenian office also caters for the Maltese travelling to Slovenia for their holidays.

Britannia Services Ltd invests in new offices with the support of EU Funds

Britannia Services Ltd is in the process of investing around €750,000 in new offices in Hamrun.

The investment is being made with part support from the European Union under the European Regional Development Funds (PA 3 of the Operational Programme 1 for Malta – Enhancing Malta’s competitiveness through investment in SMEs) through the SME Growth Grant Scheme which forms part of the portfolio of schemes under the Business Enhance ERDF Grant Schemes. Britannia Aid intensity is at 30% of the total eligible costs for the equipment forming part of the project, totalling circa EUR 81,000.

The Business Enhance funded project, entitled ‘Investments by BSL (Britannia)’ (ERDF.PA 3.ERDF.03.S4.Call 3.0027) entails the procurement of and installation within Britannia’s new, larger offices, of ICT equipment including telephony system, security systems furniture, lighting, a lift, climate control systems as well as internal and external doors, windows and other apertures. These investments will compliment the investment in the property which will host the new offices, including construction works financed directly by Britannia Services Ltd.

The project seeks to help the firm convey a fresh, rejuvenated corporate image whilst at the same time contributing to business growth through the provision of a one-stop-shop for its sundry services including package tours, individual travel, cruises, excursions, package deals, flight bookings including charter flights, insurance services etc. The new, larger offices will enable Britannia Services Ltd to provide its services in a more professional, secure manner in line with industry best practices in a welcoming environment which conveys a sense of comfort, freshness, and transparency. Customers will thus experience from the moment they step in these offices the level of customer care, and welcome which it provides to its clients who book their tours and travel requirements.
