Itinerary

We will meet at the airport at 7am for our Wizzair flight to Tirana departing at 09.15am and arriving at 10.55am. Upon arrival, we will make our way to Vlora stopping at Durres. Upon arrival in Durres, we will enjoy a city tour around Durres and visit the Durres Amphitheatre which was built in the 2nd century AD during Roman Emperor Trajan's rule and is located few meters far from city center. After exploring Durres, we will continue on to Vlora and check in at our 4-star Hotel Partner.

This morning, we will make our way to Apollonia Archaeological Site where we will enjoy a guided walking tour featuring the ancient encircling wall, the monuments of Agonothetes, the Library, the Odeon, the Portico, Archaeological Museum and the Church of St. Mary. We will then continue to Ardenica to visit the Church of St. Mary, located within the Monastery of Ardenica, one of Albania’s most beautiful Byzantine churches, dating back to XIII century. For many centuries, Ardenica has served as an important historical, cultural, and spiritual center of the Orthodox Church. In the afternoon, we will have some free time in Vlora.

This morning, we will check-out of our hotel in Vlora and begin our journey to Saranda. On our journey, we will cross through the most panoramic small villages located near the Albanian Riviera. Upon arrival in Saranda, we will make our way to our 4-Star Hotel Nertili and check-in.

Today, we will make our way to Butrint Archaeological Park. The Park boasts a fascinating blend of freshwater lakes, wetlands, and historical treasures. From the Iron Age to the Middle Ages, Butrint has witnessed a rich history, leaving behind a wealth of archaeological artifacts and structures. Today, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Ramsar Wetland Site of International Importance, highlighting its significance on multiple levels. In the afternoon, we will have some free time in Saranda.

This morning, we will check-out of our hotel and make our way to the Blue Eye, a stunning natural spring known for its vibrant blue waters, located between Saranda and Gjirokastra. We will then continue to Gjirokastra, where we will enjoy a guided tour of the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our visit will include the Gjirokastra Castle, the charming old town streets, and the traditional bazaar with its characteristic shops.In the afternoon, we will make our way Tirana and check-in at our 4-star Hotel Tirana International.

After breakfast, we will make our way to Berat, known as the ‘City of windows one above the other’. The city is divided into three quarters: Gorica, located on one side of the river; Mangalem, situated beneath the fortress; and Kalaja (the castle quarter), the residential area within the ancient fortress walls. The old city is rich in religious heritage, featuring historic mosques and beautiful Byzantine churches. During our walking tour, we will explore the ancient castle, its main gates, towers, Orthodox churches, and traditional residential architecture. We will then visit the Onufri Museum, Albania’s national museum dedicated to Byzantine art.

This morning, we will make our way to Kruja, the epicentre of Albanian national identity. Our guided walking tour will take us through the cobblestone pathways to the Ottoman bazaar, with its traditional wooden shops, and up to the historic castle walls. Within the castle, we will visit the Museum of George Castriota “Scanderbeg,” dedicated to Albania’s national hero. The surrounding old houses offer valuable insight into traditional life in northern Albania. We will then have some free time in the old bazaar to shop for locally made handicrafts and artisanal products.

We will check-out of our room and make our way to Tirana Airport for our Wizz Air flight departing at 06.50am and arriving in Malta at 08.40am. A packed breakfast will be provided.
