Itinerary
We will meet at the airport at 6.50pm for our Ryanair flight departing at 9.20pm and arriving in Krakow airport at 11.55pm. We will be transferred to Hotel Campanile in Krakow for check-in.
Today, we will have an optional full-day excursion visiting Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. We will visit the Pope’s Museum (entrance included) where he was born and raised. We will also see the Pope’s monument erected in the front of the Baroque Basilica. In the afternoon, will proceed to Auschwitz and Birkenau. Here, we will witness one of the most memorable lessons of modern European history. During our visit we will see the flower strewn Death Wall, the national memorials, the rail line and remains of the hundreds of barracks, a testimony to the number of lives lost through Nazi activities across occupied Europe (entrance included).
Today we will have an optional excursion that will take us to Wieliczka Salt Mines, an incredible place which was once described as being ‘as remarkable as the Pyramids and more useful’! Today, this famous attraction is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights of this tour include the stunning underground lake and the beautiful underground chapel of St Kinga.
After breakfast we will start the day by going on a guided walking tour around Krakow old Town, visiting Wawel Hill & Wawel Castle (exterior) which are both built on the top of Wawel Hill. From here we will have panoramic views of the Vistula river. Later, we will walk up Grodzka Street which leads us into the heart of Krakow, the Rynek Gówny or Main Market Square, where the Easter Market will be held. We will also find the large Gothic Cloth Hall which is the perfect place for souvenir shopping. In the afternoon, free time for optional sightseeing or shopping.
After breakfast, we will check-out. Today will be a unique experience at Chocholow Thermal Baths (entrance extra) which are at the foothill of the Tatra mountains. These are the largest thermal baths in Poland with almost 3,000m2 of water surface and 30 pool troughs. In these baths will find a lot of attractions: geysers, a rushing river, an artificial wave and hydromassage stands. In the late afternoon we will make a stop at the nearby centre of Chocholow, where one can admire the unique wooden houses and visit the only local workshop of a gifted woodcarving artist. Our final stop will be in Zakopane, a beautiful Polish town with its typical wooden chalets where we check-in to our Hotel Willa Pod Skocznia, and have a familiarisation walk around the popular Krupowki street and town centre.
Today, our full-day optional excursion is taking us to Morskie Oko or Eye of the Sea translated in English. It is the largest and fourth-deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains, in southern Poland. It is located deep within the Tatra National Park in the Rybi Potok (the Fish Brook) Valley, of the High Tatras mountain range. Morskie Oko is one of the most popular destinations in the Tatras, often receiving over 50,000 visitors during the vacation season. We will experience a horse drawn carriage ride (extra) that will take us most of the way up the mountain. Here, we will spend a relaxing afternoon, sounded with unreal nature of mountains, greenery and a crystal shining lake.
After breakfast, our optional full-day excursion will take us across the border to Slovakia. We drive to Bachledova Valley, where we take a short cable car ride(extra) to Magura Spiska Mountain and have a Treetop Walk (extra). This wooden path walk allows us to admire the beauty of the surrounding nature and is situated in the heart of the majestic forests of the Pieniny National Park. On a more than 600-metre long route, you will go through treetops with various information about forest animals and plant species while at the same time admire the majestic treetop views. The end of the walk takes us to a 32-meter-high observation tower where you can admire the majestic panorama of the peaks of the Belianske tatras. Later in the afternoon we will take a cable car all the way up to Gubalowka Mountain (extra) where we can admire the lovely views over the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane. We will also have the possibility to visit the Sanctuary of our Lady of Fatima.
Breakfast and check-out, afterwards we will an optional excursion to visit Lagiewniki Hill where the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy and the tomb of Suor Faustina are located. Late afternoon we will make our way to Krakow airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 6.15pm and arriving in Malta at 8.55pm.
