Itinerary
We meet at the airport at 07.00am for our KM Malta Airlines flight to Vienna departing at 09.25am. Upon arrival at Vienna airport at 11.45am, we will proceed to our 4-star Hotel Bellevue in Vienna. Check-in will be done later, while we will have some free time to enjoy the lively atmosphere of Vienna, also known as the ‘Music Capital of the World’. The Viennese city centre offers a welcoming atmosphere with several shops and cafes along the lovely streets where elegant Baroque building can also be found. We will join the tour leader for a sightseeing tour through the city. Here we will see (from outside only) St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the State Opera House, Museums of Fine Arts/Natural History, City Hall, Hofburg, Karlskirche and Musujverein. The afternoon is free; whereas one can opt to visit the Schonbrunn or stroll the very famous Vienna Christmas Markets.
After breakfast, we join the tour leader for a half-day excursion to the town of Mariazell, best known for pilgrimages, situated amidst snow-capped mountains. We tour the picturesque Austrian Alpine landscape, typical villages, and beautiful valleys with dramatic peaceful scenery. Lunch (extra) will be served in a typical small family run hotel. The afternoon is free to keep on enjoying Vienna.
After breakfast, we will have a full-day excursion to Bratislava, in southwest Slovakia at the foot of the Little Carpathians on the River Danube and River Morava. We will start with a morning tour of the Old Town, the Town Hall, a complex of three buildings that now host the Bratislava City Museum, Michael’s Gate, the only gate that has been preserved from the medieval fortifications. The rest of the day is free to enjoy Bratislava Christmas Markets.
After breakfast, we go on a half-day excursion to the beautiful Vienna Woods. Here, we will have the opportunity to see Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz (1133), Hodrichsmuhle where Franz Schubert composed the Linden Tree, and the Spa resort town Baden, where Beethoven once lived. The rest of the afternoon in free to enjoy Vienna’s Christmas Markets.
After breakfast, we will have a free morning. Check-out of our hotel and our coach will transfer us to Vienna airport for our return flight departing at 8.35pm and arrive in Malta at 10.55pm.
