Itinerary
We meet at the airport at 5am for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 7.25am and arriving in Amsterdam at 10.50am. We will be transferred to our 3-star Hotel Holiday Inn Express - Parliament in The Hague; however, not before visiting the historical city of Haarlem - the capital of North Holland province. In the evening one can join the tour leader for a familiarization walk in the city centre.
Today’s full-day optional excursion will take us first to the charming medieval city of Gouda, where the famous Cheese Market has been taking place on Thursday for centuries at the historical market square. Afterwards, we proceed to visit the former Bishop’s town, Utrecht. The old centre is traversed by the Oudegracht – the old canal, which is dotted with restaurants and shops on both sides. To the East of the canal, one can find the tallest church tower in the Netherlands at 112 metres: the Domtoren.
Today’s full-day optional excursion will start by exploring The Hague; the political capital of the Netherlands, visiting Madurodam – ‘Miniature Holland’ (entrance extra), which depicts many Dutch town and villages. In the miniature park, almost every Dutch landmark has been reproduced on a miniature scale. In the afternoon, we will make a panoramic tour of the city, passing by the Peace Palace which houses the International Court of Justice and other historical landmarks.
Our full-day optional excursion will take us to Amsterdam. We shall start with a city tour of Amsterdam, passing by many historical buildings and interesting sights; such as the Royal Palace, the National Monument and the Skinny Bridge. We will later visit a windmill on the river Amstel, together with a clogs and cheese factory. One may also opt for a canal cruise (extra) to admire this beautiful city. A familiarisation walk of the city will follow for those who would wish to join. Then, we will have some free time for personal sightseeing and shopping.
Today we will admire some of the natural beauty the Netherlands can offer. We shall start our full-day optional excursion with Enkhuizen, where we will visit the Zuiderzee museum (entrance extra) - an open-air museum depicting life in the Netherlands in years gone by. In the afternoon we will make our way towards Zaanse Schans; an old, open-air, windmill museum-village on the bank of the River Zaan. Along with its typical Dutch windmills and houses, it clearly depicts how a typical village on the River Zaan must have looked like in the 17th and 18th century.
Today, we will go on an optional full-day excursion to Rotterdam, the largest harbour in the world. Rotterdam is situated in the province of South Holland, on the banks of the rivers Waal and Nieuwe Maas. A visit to Rotterdam would not be complete without a tour of the harbour or without going up on the highest lookout tower in the Netherlands, the Euromast (entrance extra) standing at 185 metres. After the Euromast, we are transported to the city centre for a familiarization walk of the city. The rest of the afternoon is free for some shopping or for further sightseeing in this great city.
After breakfast, we will leave the hotel and make our way to the airport for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 11.50am and arriving in Malta at 2.55pm.
