Itinerary
We meet at the airport at 5am for our direct flight departing at 7.05am and arriving in London Heathrow Airport at 9.45am. On arrival, we will head to Cirencester, known as the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’. Here we will have a walking tour with the tour leader to discover its rich heritage, from the bustling Market Place and the grand Parish Church of St. John the Baptist to the fascinating remains of a Roman amphitheatre. We’ll wander through the peaceful Abbey Grounds and admire the Norman Arch. Afterwards we will make our way to our 3-star hotel Premier Inn Cheltenham town centre.
Our full-day optional excursion today takes us first to Gloucester, with a visit to the magnificent Gloucester Cathedral (extra), famed for its stunning stained glass and cloisters featured in the Harry Potter films. In the afternoon, we will cross over to Wales to explore the vibrant capital city of Cardiff, where history and modern culture meet. We will have some time to explore the elegant shopping arcades and the vibrant Cardiff Bay waterfront.
After breakfast, we will start our optional full-day excursion taking us to Somerset. We will begin the day in Wells, by visiting the stunning Wells Cathedral (extra), with its medieval architecture and scissor arches. Afterwards we will proceed to Cheddar Gorge to enjoy a leisurely walk, whilst soaking in the dramatic limestone cliffs, lush greenery and panoramic views. In the afternoon we will stop to visit the outside of the Glastonbury Abbey.
We board our coach and head off on our optional full-day excursion taking us to the historic city of Bath, to explore the best-preserved Roman site in Northern Europe (extra). We will visit the sacred spring, bathing complex and temple ruins, and learn about the Roman engineering and daily life. We will also have time to admire the outside of the Abbey and the stunning gothic cathedral and Royal Cresent consisting of 30 terraced 18th-centurey Georgian houses. Later in the afternoon we will have some free time for personal sightseeing.
After breakfast we will start today’s optional excursion by exploring the historic city of Oxford through a walking tour, visiting the university colleges, Radcliffe Camera, and the Bridge of Sighs, with its Venetian-inspired architecture. We will have time to stroll through the charming college quads and gardens. In the afternoon, we will proceed to the picturesque village of Great Tew, wandering past charming, thatched cottages and enjoying the serene Oxfordshire countryside.
Today’s full-day optional excursion takes us first to Stratford-upon-Avon, visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace (extra) to discover the life and legacy of the world’s most famous playwright, and wander the town’s charming historic streets lined with timber-framed buildings, boutique shops, and traditional cafés. In the afternoon, we will proceed to Chipping Campden, a classic Cotswolds town renowned for its elegant High Street and honey-coloured stone cottages. We will finish this day with a leisurely walk up Dover’s Hill, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the rolling Cotswold countryside.
Today’s full-day optional excursion will take us to explore the classic Cotswolds villages, starting with Stow-on-the-Wold, wandering its historic Market Square, antique shops, and medieval churches. Next, we will visit Bourton-on-the-Water, strolling along the riverside, crossing charming low bridges. Later in the afternoon will proceed to Bibury, admiring the iconic Arlington Row, walking by the River Coln. One may also opt to visit the trout farm (extra).
After breakfast we checkout of our rooms and have free time in Cheltenham town centre to explore its charming street and do some last-minute shopping. One may also opt to wander through the elegant Montpellier district with its boutiques and cafes. In the afternoon we will be spending some time in Pittville Park to admire the lakes and gardens before making our way to the airport for our flight departing at 8.30pm, arriving in Malta at 00.50am of the next day.
