Itinerary

We meet at the airport at 1.30pm for our direct Ryanair flight departing at 3.55pm and arriving at Arlanda airport at 7.40pm. Upon arrival, we will start our drive towards Stockholm and check-in at our 3-star Best Western Kom Hotel.

We will start our stay with an optional city tour which will take us to Gamla Stan, known as Stockholm Old Town. Gamla Stan is one of the biggest and best-preserved medieval city centers in Europe. We shall visit Stortorget which besides being the main square, is the oldest square in Stockholm. Our day continues with a visit to the Royal Palace (entrance extra) which is one of the largest Palaces in Europe. The Royal Palace of Stockholm is His Majesty the King's official residence and is also the setting for most of the monarchy's official receptions. Before entering the Palace, we shall see the changing of the guards. Afterwards, we have free time to explore the narrow winding cobblestone streets with buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries together with its unique boutiques and innovative restaurants. The area, more often than not, is referred to as a living museum.

Today, our coach will take us to Djurgården Island for a full-day optional excursion. The island is a popular family destination, where one can explore a huge diversity of museums, among the most popular being the famous interactive ABBA Museum, the Viking Museum, and the Vasa Museum which displays the only nearly fully intact 17th century ship ever salvaged that sank in 1628. On the island one can also find Gröna Lund, a fun amusement park with many rides and attractions. All entrances are extra and optional, and one is free to choose which museum/park to visit. From Djurgården we will board the coach back to Stockholm.

After breakfast, we will go for an optional excursion to Skansen; which is the world’s oldest open-air museum and zoo (entrance extra), showcasing the whole of Sweden with houses and farmsteads from every part of the country. The afternoon is free to explore Stockholm, the capital and most populous city of Sweden, as well as the largest urban area in the Nordic countries. One may opt to take one of the many boat trips taking you around the Stockholm archipelago which is the largest archipelago in Sweden.

Today’s optional excursion will take us to visit the Stockholm City Hall (entrance extra). The Nobel Prize banquet has taken place at the Stockholm City Hall since 1930. We will be shown the magnificent banquet and ceremonial halls and walk along the water at the City Hall Park. Afterwards we proceed to Drottningholm Palace (entrance extra) which is built on the island of Lovon in Lake Malaren, in a suburb of Stockholm called Drottningholm. The Palace is their Majesties the King and Queen's private residence and is surrounded with the lovely Palace gardens. Drottingholm Palace is listed as Sweden’s first heritage site in 1991.

We check-out of our rooms early, and make our way towards Arlanda airport for our flight departing at 6.20am and arriving in Malta at 10.20am. Packed breakfast will be provided on the last day.
