Itinerary
We will meet at the airport at 04.00am for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 06.00am and arriving in Catania at 06.45am. We will proceed to Catania centre for breakfast (extra) and we will have the morning free for personal sight seeing and shopping in Catania. Later in the afternoon, we will proceed to the Gole Del Alcantara. The Alcantara Gorges are one of the must-see attractions of Sicily. The gorges are real canyons made of black lava walls up to 50 meters high with running crystal, clear waters of the river Alcantara. Afterwards, we will return to Catania and check in at our Best Western Hotel Mediterraneo.
Today’s full-day excursion will take us to Etnaland Acquapark (entrance included). The Park offers a day full of excitement for the whole family. One can find various slides, aquatic attractions, and pools for both adults and children. Visitors will also find a large wave pool with a fully-equipped area dedicated to our little guests. Throughout the park you can find gift shops, snack points, restaurants, and a photo service.
Our full-day excursion will take us to three different locations. First, we head to Savoca, an attractive hillside village with clusters of houses that cover the tops of two hillsides and the ridge between the two. The location is stunning and the views are fabulous. Savoca is famous the Vitelli bar and Saint Lucia church the key locations of the scenes of the Godfather film. Later, we will proceed to Castelmola. Its main square is covered with mosaic of white lava stone, bordered by tree-lined and shady pavements that opens onto a belvedere from which you can see Taormina. The last stop for the day will be at Taormina, which is an unmissable stop of any visit to Sicily. Perched on a rocky promontory high above the sea, Taormina features beautifully restored mediaeval buildings, breath-taking views around every corner and a network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants.
Today’s full-day excursion will take us to Mount Etna which is known for being the one of the oldest and most active volcanoes in Europe. The volcano shaped the Sicilian history and landscape and still affects the island with its frequent eruptions. It is an UNESCO World Heritage site since 2013. At the peak, you can enjoy stunning views of the gorgeous Sicilian countryside. Later in the afternoon, we will proceed to Centro Sicilia Shopping Centre with its large variety of shops to choose from.
Today, we will check out from the hotel and proceed to Syracuse. The city is famed for its Baroque architecture while it offers a mixture of ancient sights, great fresh seafood restaurants, shops, and beaches. The lovely peninsula of Ortigia is another hight light of today’s excursion. Ortigia is connected to the city of Syracuse by the Umbertino bridge. At 08.00pm we will depart from Syracuse and proceed to Catania Airport for our return KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 11.50pm and arriving in Malta at 00.35am on the next day.
