Itinerary
We will meet at the airport at 11.30am for our Ryanair flight departing at 2pm and arriving in Krakow airport at 4.35pm. Upon arrival we will be transferred to Zakopane, a beautiful village at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, where we will check-in at our Hotel Logos and afterwards, we will join the tour leader for a familiarisation walk around the Krupowki street and town centre of Zakopane.
After breakfast, today’s optional excursion takes us across the border to Slovakia. Upon arrival at Bachledova Valley, we take a short cable car (extra) ride to Magura Spiska Mountain and have a Treetop Walk (extra). This wooden path walk allows us to admire the beauty of the surrounding nature and is situated in the heart of the majestic forests of the Pieniny National Park. Later in the afternoon we will take a cable car all the way up to Gubalowka Mountain (extra) where we can admire the lovely views over the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane.
Today, we will go on our optional excursion to the Pieniny National Park. We shall take a slow river raft trip down the rapids of the river Dunajec (extra), with its magnificent backdrop of mountain tops, 1,500ft high limestone cliffs, trees embedded in rock formations and meadows. After our eventful trip, we can take lunch (extra) in the area. Later, we will have some free time for personal sightseeing. On our way back we will also have the possibility to visit the Sanctuary of our Lady of Fatima.
After an early breakfast we will check-out from our hotel. Before starting our transfer to Krakow, we will visit Morskie Oko. It is the largest and fourth-deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains, in southern Poland. It is located deep within the Tatra National Park in the Rybi Potok Valley, of the High Tatras mountain range. Morskie Oko is one of the most popular destinations in the Tatras, often receiving over 50,000 visitors during the vacation season. One can experience a horse drawn carriage ride (extra) that will take us most of the way up the mountain. Here, we will spend a relaxing afternoon, surrounded with unreal nature of mountains, greenery and a crystal shining lake. Later in the afternoon, we will start our trip towards Krakow, and check-in at our hotel.
After breakfast we will start the day by going on an optional walking guided tour around Krakow old Town, visiting Wawel Hill & Wawel Castle (exterior) which are both built on the top of Wawel Hill. From here we will have panoramic views of the Vistula River. Later, we will walk up Grodzka Street which leads us into the heart of Krakow, the Rynek Gówny or Main Market Square. We will also find the large Gothic Cloth Hall which is the perfect place for souvenir shopping. Later in the afternoon, we will have the optional excursion to Wieliczka Salt Mines (extra), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights of this tour include the stunning underground lake and the beautiful underground cathedral, St. Kinga’s Chapel. Before returning to Krakow, we will be visiting Lagiewniki Hill and the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy as well as the tomb of Suor Faustina.
Today, we will start our optional full-day excursion by visiting Auschwitz and Birkenau. Here, we will witness one of the most memorable lessons of modern European history. During our visit we will see the flower strewn Death Wall, the national memorials, the rail line and remains of the hundreds of barracks, a testimony to the number of lives lost through Nazi activities across occupied Europe. In the afternoon, we will proceed to Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. We will visit the Pope’s Museum (extra) where he was born and raised. We will also see the Pope’s monument erected in the front of the Baroque Basilica.
After breakfast we will check-out of the hotel and get transferred to Krakow airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 12.15pm and arriving in Malta at 2.50pm.
