Itinerary
We meet at the airport at 07.00am for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing to Vienna Airport at 09.25am. Upon arrival at 11.45am, we shall head to Vienna Centre to enjoy this lively city and have some free time to roam around, before proceeding to our 4-star Hotel Courtyard by Marriott in Linz.
Breakfast, and today we enjoy a full-day excursion in the Austrian Lake District, particularly to St. Wolfgang. We shall take a boat ride (extra) to St Gilgen. After visiting the town centre, we travel by coach to the village of Hallstatt, considered one of the most beautiful in Austria, with incredible scenery and filled with alleys and colourful, typically 16th-century Alpine houses.
Breakfast and another wonderful full-day optional excursion to the historic city of Salzburg. Here, we will take a walk through the city centre to admire the beauty of the architecture that once hosted famous residents such as the composer Mozart. We will have free time to further enjoy the squares and alleys of this majestic city. One can also opt to visit the Fortress (extra).
Today’s optional excursion will take us to Passau, in the Bavaria region of Germany. We will visit the historic centre and the place where three rivers meet – the Danube, the Ilz, and the Inn – with the majestic backdrop of St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
Breakfast, and today we have an optional excursion to beautiful city in Austria – Graz. In the heart of this city, we find Hauptplatz, the main square of the old medieval town, surrounded by narrow streets filled with shops and restaurants, and featuring Baroque and Renaissance architecture. We will also stop at a large shopping centre where we will have time for lunch (extra) and shopping. In the evening we shall welcome the new year with an optional New Year’s Dinner including live music. This will include a a buffet dinner with a variety of starters, main courses, and desserts. Besides that, it includes drinks such as soft drinks, beers, and selection of wine until 1:00 in the morning.
We shall start our first full-day optional excursion that will take us to the Czech Republic, where we will visit the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov – an ancient city protected by UNESCO. This town has an old historic centre which, together with the castle complex, has been protected by law since 1992. We will see the Church of St. Vitus and the historic centre full of museum. Free time is given, where one can also visit the Cesky Krumlov Castle courtyards.
Breakfast, and today’s final optional excursion takes us to Wels, a city located on the River Traun. Here, one can admire the Ledererturm tower, the last medieval remains and the fortifications surrounding the city. We will also see the Marienwarte observation tower, the Stadtpfarrkirche church, and Stadtplatz. There will be free time, and afterwards we head to Ebensee, where we explore this small village and enjoy a pleasant walk along the river. We return to Linz, where we enjoy the final evening of our holiday.
We check-out from our rooms, and head to Vienna Airport for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 12.35pm arriving in Malta at 2.55pm.
