Itinerary
We will meet at the airport at 8am for our Ryanair flight to Zagreb departing at 10.40am and arriving at 12.30pm. Upon arrival, we will make our way to Karlovac. We will visit Dubovac Castle, which is perched on a hill overlooking the city, and dates back to the 13th century. We can explore its well-preserved architecture and enjoy panoramic views from the tower. Afterwards we will proceed to Biograd na moru and check-in to our 4-star Hotel IN. We will then have a familiarisation walk with our tour leader.
Today’s optional excursion will take us to explore the historic charm of Zadar, one of Croatia’s most captivating coastal cities. We will explore the beautifully preserved Old Town, filled with Roman ruins and medieval churches. We will the Roman Forum, St Donatus Church, and the Sea Organ, an architectural marvel that creates music from the movement of the waves. We will have some free time to wander along the waterfront promenade.
Today’s optional excursion takes us to the charming town of Sibenik, known for its rich history and stunning architecture. We will roam through the town with its narrow streets and visit the impressive St. James Cathedral. We will then make our way to the breathtaking Krka National Park (entrance extra). We will enter into park at Lozovac entrance then, we will follow the network of wooden walkways and trails along the Krka River, giving us the chance to admire the cascading falls and picturesque viewpoints as we explore this natural wonder, arriving at the park’s most famous highlight, the Skradinski Buk waterfall.
Today, we will have an optional full day excursion taking us to Plitvice Lakes National Park (entrance extra) which are on the UNESCO World Heritage site, due to its outstanding and picturesque series of lakes, caves and connected waterfalls. A panoramic train tour and a boat trip is a great way to see the park and learn about its history and ecology of the park. In the afternoon we will have some time to enjoy nature in the wonderful ambience found in Plitvice Lakes.
This morning, we will experience the ‘nautical paradise’ of Croatia, the Kornati Islands on our optional excursion. We will embark on a boat and navigate through the labyrinth of islands, discovering secluded coves, hidden beaches and turquoise bays surrounded by the azure Adriatic Sea. We will learn about the islands’ rich history, diverse wildlife, and geological formations as our boat goes around the archipelago, stopping at picturesque anchorages and marinas along the way. We will also enjoy lunch on the boat (included).
Our optional excursion will take us to Trogir, a beautifully preserved medieval town set on a small island, where Romanesque, Gothic, and Venetian influences blend seamlessly. Then, we will make our way to Split. Split is Croatia’s second-largest city, renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, scenic coastline, and lively atmosphere. We will explore the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s palace, the Cathedral of St Domnius and the Temple of Jupiter. We will walk along the Riva Promenade and enjoy panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the nearby islands.
Today, after breakfast, we will check-out and make our way to Zagreb. Upon arrival, we will have a city tour starting in “Downtown” including Main Railway Station, Ban Jelačić Square, King Tomislav Square, Art Pavilion, and Zrinjevac park. We will visit Dolac and continue to Tkalčićeva Street, where the best restaurants and bars are located. Here, we’ll explore the “Upper Town” – the oldest part of Zagreb, including St Mark’s Square, former “Governor’s Palace”, the Croatian Parliament, Lotrščak Tower, Cathedral of Zagreb and ending our tour in front of the National Theatre. We will then make our way to Zagreb airport for our flight departing at 11.20pm and arriving in Malta at 01.15am
