Itinerary

We will meet at the airport at 3.30am for our Ryanair flight to Zagreb departing at 5.50am and arriving at 7.40am. Upon arrival, we will explore Zagreb starting in “Downtown” including Main Railway Station, Ban Jelačić Square and King Tomislav Square, and Zrinjevac park. We will visit Dolac and continue to Tkalčićeva Street, where the best restaurants and bars are located. Here, we’ll explore the “Upper Town” – the oldest part of Zagreb, including St Mark’s Square, former “Governor’s Palace”, the Croatian Parliament, Lotrščak Tower, Cathedral of Zagreb and ending our tour in front of the National Theatre. Then, we will make our way to Maribor and check-in to our 3-star B&B Hotel Maribor.

This morning, we will join our tour leader for a familiarisation walk around Maribor. Maribor is the second biggest city in Slovenia, having a medieval centre, cobblestone streets and rich history linked to nearby wine-growing region. In the afternoon, we will have an optional visit the oldest town in Slovenia, Ptuj, which has been inhabited since the late Stone Age and developed from a Roman Military fort. We will explore its beauty in a walking tour through the town, and visit Ptuj Castle (entrance extra), the Provost Church, and the old City Hall.

After breakfast, on today’s optional excursion, we discover the unique lovely wine region of Jeruzalem, nicknamed the Tuscany of Slovenia. We will pay a visit to a winery (extra) for some wine tasting. We later proceed to Vinarium tower (extra) to experience a breathtaking view of the plains and hills spanning over four different countries namely Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, and Austria.

This morning, we will make our way to Austria to visit the city of Graz for our optional excursion. This is one of the best-preserved historical cities in Europe filled with impressive institutions and exciting cultural attractions. We will see the “Painted House”, adorned with Baroque frescos in 1742, the “Luegghaus” façade on the bottom corner of Sporgasse which is now home to the Swarovski store, Graz Town Square which is marked by a statue of Archduke Johann of Austria who helped develop Graz with various initiatives and grand visions over 50 years and view the Renaissance Architecture. For those interested in shopping, the Seiersberg Shopping Centre will be a must!

This morning, we will check-out and begin our journey to Budapest. Along the way, we will visit Tihany, a peninsula jutting 5km into the lake on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Tihany is famous for its lavender and produces a large variety of lavender products. From here we take a boat ride (included) to Balatonfüred, a charming town known for its elegant waterfront promenade, historic villas, and relaxing lakeside atmosphere. We will then continue our journey to Budapest. Upon arrival, we will check-in to our 4-Star Intercity Hotel .

This morning, we will explore the Buda side of the city on our optional excursion. We will walk through the Buda Castle district exploring the historical street, Matthias Church and the famous Fisherman’s Bastion, with its lookout towers, which is one of the top attractions of Budapest providing the best panoramic views. In the afternoon, we will visit Szentendre, known for its vivid Baroque architecture and colours. We will then visit the town of Esztergom, famous for the great Basilica (entrance extra), the largest church in Hungary.

Today’s optional excursion takes us on a panoramic tour around the Pest Side including Heroes' Square with its Millennium Monument. We will then visit the nearby City Park along with Vajdahunyad Castle. We will drive through Andrassy Avenue and then stop at St. Stephen's Basilica. We will have some free time to enjoy the city at leisure. One may opt to visit the famous Parliament building (extra & requires pre-booking). In the afternoon, we will visit Hollókő, a small village in Northern Hungary. We will be given a Folk Costume Presentation and hosted to taste homemade strudel with cottage cheese, poppy seed, cherry apple or cabbage and a glass of wine (extra).

This morning, we will check-out of our hotel and make our way to Gödöllő Royal Palace (entrance included), the world’s second largest Baroque castle. After a guided tour of the 18th century castle, we will visit the gardens, which brilliantly decorate the estate. In the afternoon, we will make our way to Budapest Airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 2.35pm and arriving in Malta at 4.55pm
