Friday 28th February |Arrival & Siena
We will meet at the airport at 4.00 am for our KM Malta Airlines direct flight departing at 6.30 am and arriving at Rome Airport at 8:05 am. On the way to Viareggio, we shall make a stop in Siena which is most famous for the Palio, and the annual horse race held in Piazza del Campo. Later, we proceed to check in at our 4-star hotel in Viareggio.
Saturday 1st March- Florence
Today, we will go on our full-day optional excursion to Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Here we see, amongst others, the complex of three attractions – the Duomo, the Baptistery, and Giotto’s Steeple. We will visit Piazza Signoria, which is the meeting place of Florentines and tourists, and proceed to nearby Ponte Vecchio noted for the various shops built along it. In the evening, we have some free time to enjoy Viareggio’s carnival.
Sunday 2nd March | Pisa
Today’s half-day excursion will take us to Pisa which is known for its stunning landscape, rich history, and cultural heritage. Here, we will see the “Campo dei Miracoli”, the world-famous leaning Tower, the Cathedral, and the Baptistery. In the afternoon, one can enjoy the masked course (extra) in the main street of Viareggio where color, joy, music, and entertainment with the largest allegorical construction in the world will amaze the public once again.
Monday 3rd March | Volterra & San Gimignano
Today’s full-day optional excursion takes us to another part of Tuscany, visiting Volterra and San Gimignano, starting from Volterra. This city conserves a medieval aspect, not only for the 12th-century city walls but also because of the urban layout with narrow streets, palaces, tower houses, and churches. We drive to San Gimignano, probably the most famous small town in Italy, which dominates the Val d’Elsa with its breathtaking skyline bristling with towers. On the way back, we shall make a stop at Montecatini Alto. In the evening, we have some free time to enjoy Viareggio’s carnival.
Tuesday 4th March |Departure
