We will meet at the airport at 5.00am for our Ryanair flight departing at 7.00am and arriving in Krakow airport at 9.40am. On arrival we are transferred to our central 3 star hotel. Since check in is done in the afternoon, we will leave our luggage at the hotel and go for an optional half day walking city tour where we will familiarise ourselves with the city and also visit the Krakow Christmas market! We can enjoy the ambience of the Christmas spirit while discovering the most interesting sites. We will also visit Wawel Castle including the surrounding grounds and the famous St Mary’s Cathedral. We later check in our rooms and enjoy the rest of the day.
After breakfast, our full day optional excursion today will first take us to Wadowice, the birth place of Pope John II. We will see the church where he was baptised and celebrated his 1st Holy Communion, afterwards we will see his home and museum. We will also have a 35min train trip that will take us to visit interesting places in Wadowice connected with the Pope. In the afternoon we will visit Wieliczka salt mines to see the beauty and ability of the miners in carving those underground figures, monuments, altar pieces and chandeliers.
Today our full day optional excursion will take us to Zakopane, a beautiful village at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Here we will have ample time to visit the highlanders market where one is sure to find various goods on offer such as leather jackets, cheese tasting and souvenir shopping. We will then take a short ride on a cable car that will take us on top of Gubalowka Mountain for a spectacular view of the Tatra Mountains. We will also have time to walk through the famous Krupowki street that is filled with shops and restaurants.
Another interesting full day optional excursion today takes us to the Tatra National Park. Here we will have the opportunity to visit the largest and fourth deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains. We will see the Highlanders in their traditional attire and experience a horse drawn carriage ride that will take us most of the way up the mountain. Here we will have ample time for lunch (extra) and to enjoy the splendour of this famous lake.
The morning is free for some last minute shopping. One may also join the tour leader for an enjoyable boat ride on Vistula river. Check out of rooms by noon. We will later drive to Krakow airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 5.15pm and arriving in Malta at 7.55pm.
