We meet at 7.10am for our Air Serbia flight departing to Belgrade at 9.10am. On arrival at 11.00am, we start our drive towards Zlatibor and check in our 4 star Hotel Zlatibor Mona in Zlatibor. We will later go for a familiarization walk with our tour leader.
We start off our stay with a half-day excursion taking us to Zlatibor Mountain, the most famous mountain resort in Serbia. We will walk along the beautiful Zlatibor Lake and fragrant meadows with a short break on the local market where one can buy traditional products such as woodcarvings, handwork crafts and souvenirs, smoked ham, and kaymak, a traditional creamy dairy product. We will then drive to Sirogojno and visit the “Staro Selo Sirogojno”, an open-air museum or “ethno village” known as the Old Village Museum. The ethno village displays a set of traditional wooden buildings, including a bakery, a dairy, and an inn, all in authentic form. The village of Sirogojno was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1983, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia. We will then head towards some medieval monasteries in the Ovcar-Kablar area, unique for their location and the era in which they came into being. In terms of their cultural and spiritual significance, as well as their artistic value, this group of monasteries is second only to the monasteries of Fruska Gora.
Our full-day excursion will take us first to Kadinjaca Memorial Complex. This spomenik complex commemorates the brave actions of the soldiers the Worker’s Batallion who died protecting the Republic of Uzice at Kadinjaca Mountain. We the proceed to the city of Uzice. Set in the valley of Detinja River, surrounded by magnificent beauties of mountains Tara and Zlatibor, there is a center of the former Republic of Uzice and one of the eight Tito’s cities – the city of Uzice. Many people pass by this city which holds a long and wild history. We will later make a short visit at We then proceed to Stopica Cave (extra), famous for its 10 meters high subterranean waterfall but also its climate: it is warm during summertime but cold in winter. The Stopica cave, on the left bank of the Pritavica River, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Western Serbia, near the city of Uzice. This evening we will be celebrating the welcoming of the New Year with a Gala Dinner.
Today we will go for a very pleasant full-day optional excursion, taking us to the Tara National Park. The Park is especially famous for its fascinating nature. We will enjoy a tour of Lazici Dam while observing Spajici Lake and the area where the famous Pancic’s Spruce was discovered in 1875. We will then drive back to Perucac and enjoy lunch (extra) at Vrelo Restaurant, famous since it is built above the smallest river in the world, Vrelo, only 365 meters long. The restaurant overlooks the turquoise green river Drina and the waterfalls. We return back to Zlatibor. This evening we will enjoy another Gala Dinner.
After checking out of our rooms, we will start our drive towards Belgrade where we will enjoy a free panoramic city tour. Serbia’s capital city will show you why it is a strategic stopover at the crossroads of Eastern and Western civilization since ancient times, with its position at the confluence of the Danube and Sava River. We will then proceed to Belgrade airport for our Air Serbia flight departing at 5.45pm and arriving in Malta at 7.40pm.
