We will meet at the airport at 5.50pm for our Air Malta flight departing at 7.50pm and arriving in Prague at 10.20pm. We are transferred to our 4 star Hotel in Prague and check in.
We start off the day with an optional full-day excursion - a guided city tour of beautiful Prague. We will see interesting places such as the Castle, the lovely Cathedral of St Vitus and walk along Charles’ Bridge - famous for its 30 statues. Our guide will also take us to see the exhibition of Christmas Cribs and also show us around the various Christmas Markets found at the Old Square, Wenceslas Square, together with others! Perfect start to get acquainted with Prague and immerse ourselves into the lovely atmosphere!
Our full-day optional excursion takes us to Dresden in Germany, where notable art treasures, architectural sights and charming landscapes merge to form a truly fascinating city. We see the main attractions such as the Semper Opera House and the Frauenkirche Lutheran church amongst others and afterwards we have time for shopping and personal sightseeing.
Today, you can enjoy a free day to enjoy building up to the New Year celebrations! We suggest revisiting the old town and enjoying the Christmas Markets and the lovely atmosphere they have to offer!
Happy New Year! | This morning we will go on an optional half-day excursion to Karlovy Vary. We pass through picturesque small villages and we also see the hot spring geysers (12 metres high) on the way to the Basilica dedicated to Maria Madalena. Some free time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this beautiful locality. When we return to our hotel, we suggest heading towards Charles Bridge to enjoy Prague’s New Year’s fireworks display along the river Vltava. This takes place today, starting at 6.00pm and lasts around 11 minutes.
Today, we shall join our tour leader for another full-day optional excursion to Kutna Hora. It is one of the 12 places in the Czech Republic on UNESCO’s world heritage list, but is most famous for its remarkable ‘bone church’; a cemetry chapel decorated with the bones of up to 40,000 people. The historic centre of Kutna Hora is one of the country’s prettiest and the gothic cathedral of St Barbara is the country’s most spectacular. We will later proceed to Cesky ternberk castle, built around 1241 by Zdeslav of Diviov. One remarkable fact is that the castle is still owned by the same family as almost 800 years ago. The current owner is a descendant in the 20th generation of the founder.
Today we will go on a half-day excursion to Chateau Melnik (entrance extra). We first start off with the town of Melník by walking around the square lined with beautiful arcaded buildings. We will see the town hall and the adjacent former Capuchin monastery. If you like mysterious spaces with a special energy, you can descend into the medieval Mělník underground (extra) with the widest well in the Czech Republic. We will then visit the Chateau, a hilltop castle with grand rooms, a collection of 17th-century maps and the wine cellars. Late afternoon, we are offering you an optional 2 hour guided walking tour of Prague where we will learn about the various legend, myths and stories surrounding this city. This Ghost and Legends of the Old Town tour is extremely interesting!
On our last day, we will start off with free time for some personal sightseeing before checking out of our rooms. We will then go for an optional half-day boat trip on Vltava River including lunch on board. The Vltava is the longest river within the Czech Republic, running southeast along the Bohemian Forest and then north across Bohemia, through Český Krumlov, České Budějovice and Prague, and finally merging with the Elbe at Mělník. We return to our hotel late afternoon. We will then make our way to Prague Airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 11.05pm and arriving in Malta at 01.35am, early Sunday morning.
