SATURDAY, 30TH JULY:
We will meet our tour leader at the airport at 2.00pm for our Air Malta flight departing at 4.05pm. We will arrive in Brussels at 7.00pm, after which we are transferred to our 3 Star Hotel Navarra in Brugge. Check in and overnight.
SUNDAY, 31ST JULY:
Breakfast and morning is free to enjoy Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in northwest Belgium, is distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets, and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis City Hall has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views.
MONDAY, 1ST AUGUST:
Our full day optional excursion today will first take us to the medieval town of Ghent, which is riddled with canals. The view from St. Michael’s Bridge conveys the facades of some of the oldest trading houses. We will also see the famous Saint Bavo’s Cathedral with its separate belfry. We later proceed to Antwerp a port city on Belgium’s River Scheldt, with history dating to the Middle Ages. In its center, the centuries-old Diamond District houses thousands of diamond traders, cutters, and polishers. Antwerp’s Flemish Renaissance architecture is typified by the Grote Markt, a central square in the old town. At the 17th-century Rubens House, period rooms display works by the Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens.
TUESDAY, 2ND AUGUST:
Our full day excursion today will first take us to Ostend, where we will see the most attractive and interesting sights, such as the Amandine, Mercator, Fishermen’s Quay and Royal Galleries. Our journey will later take us to Knokke-Heist, a city lying near the Dutch border, which is famous for its splendid beaches, historic landmarks, and countryside scenery.
WEDNESDAY, 3RD AUGUST:
After breakfast today we can join the leader for an optional excursion to Lille and Kortrijk. Our first stop will be in Kortrijk, also known in English as Courtrai or Courtray, is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. It is the capital and largest city of the judicial and administrative arrondissement of Kortrijk. We then proceed to Lille, the capital of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France, near the border with Belgium. A cultural hub and bustling university city today, it was once an important merchant center of French Flanders, and many Flemish influences remain. The historic center, Vieux Lille, is characterized by 17th-century brick town houses, cobbled pedestrian streets and the large central square, Grand Place.
THURSDAY, 4TH AUGUST:
We start off our last day with some free time for last minute shopping and sightseeing. Check out of rooms by 11am. We will later board our coach and make our way to Brussels for a city tour of the EU capital city. We will be able to see the Royal Palace and the modern EU headquarters and then stroll around the Grand Place – one of the most beautiful squares in the world – with its cafes, bars and flower stalls. We will later make our way to Brussels Airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 7.50pm and arriving in Malta at 11.40pm.
