MONDAY, 6TH DECEMBER:
We will meet at the airport at 4.30am for our Ryanair flight departing at 7.00am and arriving in Krakow airport at 9.40am. On our way, we will stop in two villages nearby Zakopane namely Chocholow and Witow. The highlight of Chocholow is undoubtedly its traditional wooden architecture and the workshop of a local artist in one of the wooden huts. We will then be transferred to our central 3-star hotel in Zakopane.
TUESDAY, 7TH DECEMBER:
We start our journey with a walking tour of Zakopane, a beautiful village at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Here we will have ample time to visit the highlanders market where one is sure to find various goods on offer such as leather jackets, cheese tasting and souvenir shopping. We will then take a short ride on a cable car that will take us on top of Gubalowka Mountain for a spectacular view of the Tatra Mountains. We will also have time to walk through the famous Krupowki street, beautifully decorated at Christmas time, filled with shops and restaurants.
WEDNESDAY, 8TH DECEMBER:
After breakfast, our full day optional excursion today will first take us to Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. We will see the church where he was baptised and celebrated his 1st Holy Communion, afterwards we will see his home and museum. We will continue to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, another place related with John Paul II.
THURSDAY, 9TH DECEMBER:
Today, our full day optional excursion is taking us to Morskie Oko or Eye of the Sea translated in English. It is the largest and fourth-deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains, in southern Poland. It is located deep within the Tatra National Park in the Rybi Potok (the Fish Brook) Valley, of the High Tatras mountain range. Morskie Oko is one of the most popular destinations in the Tatras, often receiving over 50,000 visitors during the vacation season. We will experience a horse drawn carriage ride (extra) that will take us most of the way up the mountain. Here, we will spend relaxing afternoon, sounded with unreal nature of mountains, greenery and crystal shining lake.
FRIDAY, 10TH DECEMBER:
Our full-day optional excursion today takes us to Krakow. Krakow, no longer plays such an important administrative role, but for many people, thanks to its rich history, Krakow represents a synthesis of all things Polish, connecting tradition with modernity. We will see the Bishop’s Palace, Wawel Hill, Wawel Castle and Cathedral. The castle was home to many Polish kings and queens. A walk up Grodzka Street leads us to the heart of Krakow, the Rynek Gówny or Main Market Square. There, the large Gothic Cloth Hall is the perfect place for souvenir shopping. We visit also the Royal Tombs and Sigismond’s Bell with our last stop being the twin spired St Mary’s Church with its famous Wit Stwosz medieval altar.
SATURDAY, 11TH DECEMBER:
Today, our optional full-day excursion will take us to Wieliczka Salt Mines, an incredible place which was once described as being ‘as remarkable as the Pyramids and more useful’! Today, this famous attraction is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights of this tour include the stunning underground lake and the beautiful underground cathedral, St. Kinga’s Chapel.
SUNDAY, 12TH DECEMBER:
The morning will be free with a possibility to participate in the Holy Mass in an old wooden church. In the afternoon, we will be transferred to Chocholawska or Koscielliska Valleys to take a leisurely walk in beautiful Tatras surroundings.
MONDAY, 13TH DECEMBER:
After check out we will make our way to Krakow airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 10.05am and arriving in Malta at 12.45pm.
